WATERLOO, Iowa — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism" since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks (Are you kidding me, being an American, also means your proud of your country. America has made mistakes for sure, but we are not alone in this pool, but any clear thinking person in the world could easily see America is a force of good in the world, and we can be pround of that. And yes Barack Hussein Obama, that means you wear the flag and wear it proudly, after all you want to run this great country. Its not only a good idea, but it should be demanded upon. That way you will always remember who your playing for.)
Asked about it Wednesday in an interview with KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Illinois senator said he stopped wearing the pin shortly after the attacks and instead hoped to show his patriotism by explaining his ideas to citizens. "The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin,"
"Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security. (Since when, does the wearing of the American flag become an problem of national security in the United States of America? You are trying to run this country arent you?)
I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest, he said in the interview. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism. (So let me get this straight, taking off the flag pin of the United States of America is now patriotic? When did that become the thing to do? Or maybe its like what Joe Biden said, Its patriotic to pay more taxes. I have to ask this question, What the hell are you talking about, and just where do you want to take my country?)
On Thursday, his campaign issued a statement: "We all revere the flag, but Senator Obama believes that being a patriot is about more than a symbol. (Ooh really, if its just a meaniless symbol as you are trying to point out, then why does the halls of congress have a flag present, the office the President, every elected offical, and every fighting solider in America swear to uphold the vitures of America, and salute the flag, and promise to defend her. Maybe its because America is the greatest country in the world, we are repected among the ranks of peace loving countries, and feared by those who would do us harm. We stand before the flag because it means something, it means America, and its America that you are trying to run.)
It's about fighting for our veterans when they get home and speaking honestly with the American people about this disastrous war. (Yes, your right about that, but remember those troops are over ther fighting, under the banner of our flag, if you really supoport them then you would proudly wear the American Flag)
